THIMPHU TSHECHU

One of Bhutan’s largest and most well-attended events is the Thimphu Festival (Tsechu). Tsechus (festivals), which feature dances performed by skilled monks and laypeople dressed in incredible masks and costumes, are among the greatest ways to see Bhutan’s historic living culture. Buddhists celebrate Guru Rimpoche, the saint who introduced Buddhism to Bhutan, with a feast known as a Tsechu. Tenzing Rabgye (1638-1696), the fourth Temporal Ruler, founded the Thimphu Tsechu in 1670. This event is a wonderful opportunity to see the locals celebrating their faith and culture while dressed to the nines in their finest Ghos and Kiras. Additionally, this journey explores holy locations in Punakha, Thimphu, and Paro.
